2021 Kitchen Trends

The changes many families experienced during the global pandemic of 2020 have influenced this year’s kitchen design trends. While aesthetic features are unique to the season, we are seeing many families opt for a more space conscious design with improved functionality for the ‘work from home’ life we have had to adapt to.

Here are our top trends for 2021 Kitchen Designs:

Keeping it Natural

Natural wood veneers and wood-look-a-like melamine panels are making a comeback. There are varieties on natural wood finishes to choose from. Adding a natural element brings the outdoors in, and with it comes a warmer, softer kitchen atmosphere. A popular choice now is the deep veins and authentic feel of the Halifax Oak.

Colour

There is no doubt about the effect colour has on our state of mind and mood. Adding a burst of colour to your kitchen will not only make the space more visually interesting but it will lift your mood too. You can tastefully add colour to your kitchen with a feature wall and tiled above counter back-splash. If you prefer the less permanent approach, displaying colourful crockery on open shelves or bright colour pot plants will work too.

Seamless Design

Smooth and handle-less cupboard designs add an element of luxury and sophistication to any kitchen. Recessed handles, sliding doors or touch-to-open doors make this look possible. Thanks to the innovative technology trends in kitchen appliance designs, built in appliances are now readily available and add to the seamless perfection of the contemporary kitchen.

Marble Worktops

Possibly the easiest way to add a flare of luxury to your kitchen is with heavy veined marble worktops. If the real deal is slightly out of your budget, the improvements in engineered quartz selections will do the trick. Stone worktops are known to be easy to clean, heat and stain resistant, and they are durable.

Mixing things up

Another trend we are seeing is an increase in the demand for contrasting colours or textures in a kitchen design. Glossy white panels stand out beautifully next to warm, natural wood finishes. Polished concrete counters with distressed metals and wooden elements create an alluring industrial style kitchen.

White Kitchens

The White Kitchen will never go out of style. White kitchens are timeless and attract new buyers easily if you intend to sell one day. You can add some 2021 flare to a white kitchen with many of the ideas we have discussed today. Either contrast your white design with colour back-splashes or contrasting countertops. If you prefer a classic white kitchen, there is nothing more sophisticated than the natural tones of oak, white and gold. Take a look at this recent project we completed in which we combined these three elements to create a modern, country kitchen that will not go out of style anytime soon. House White

Matt and Metals

Designs for kitchen taps and sinks have kept up with the demand for sleek, seamless kitchen designs. Silver aluminium sinks are a thing of that past. Matt kitchen sinks in deep greys or clean light-coloured concrete are making a popular way to add luxury to your kitchen too. Contrasting these matt, natural sinks with polished gold or brass sanitaryware make for a visually appealing kitchen experience.
